IP Petition for an Exception or Appeal to Policies or Requirements

IP Petition Form and Instructions

International Plan students who request an exception to an IP policy or who wish to appeal an IP requirement should download the petition form, complete it, and submit it as directed. It is recommended that you provide any supporting documentation that will help make a better case for your appeal, such as a letter of support from a faculty member, or a course syllabus (class descriptions will not suffice for course approvals), etc. A separate form should be submitted for each request. Potential requests could include, but are not limited to, courses not on the IP course list counting toward the globally-focused course requirements, non-GT program approval, etc.

Petitions and Appeals are reviewed in the fall and spring semesters and students should allow 4-6 weeks for a decision. Committees do not meet during the summer semester and therefore do not review petitions during the summer semester. Be sure to plan accordingly. Petition requests are NOT guaranteed to be approved - each will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
